The tournament is reserved to the categories "Ragazzi" and "Cadetti". The teams are required to submit at the check-in (or possibly before - we’d appreciate an electronic format like .xls or .doc) the list of the players (roster), for each category in which they are enrolled. Before the beginning of the games the Tournament Committee has the right to verify if the age limits are respected. Birth certificates or a valid identification documents must be made available for every player. Teams are allowed to include players that are not on the club’s book, reporting it in the roster. The authorization from the lending club must be provided. TOURNAMENT FIXTURE LIST AND GAME SCHEDULE For each category, the teams will be grouped in two qualifying pools. A printed copy of the tournament fixture list will be available at the check in. The teams must be on the field not later than 5 (five) minutes after the game scheduled time, otherwise the Tournament Committee will declare winner “7 to 0“ the opposing team ready for the game. HOME TEAMS In the qualifying pools the home teams will be identified by the left position in the fixture list. In the semi-final and final games the home team will be determined by coin toss before the beginning of the game. TRAINING Due to the short time between the games it’s not possible to have training on field. UMPIRES Every team must designate, at the check in, one umpire that will be assigned to the games by the Tournament Committee. SCORER The Tournament Committee will provide official scorekeepers. "RAGAZZI" CATEGORY “Ragazzi” means boys and girls born between 01/01/96 and 31/12/99 Qualifying pools The 8 teams are divided in two qualifying pools (Italian mode – one leg) with 4 teams each. At the end of the qualifying pool the ranking is determined as follows: - the winning team of every game gains 2 points, the loosing 0 points - in case of a tied game, after 1 extra inning, 1 point each - if two or more teams are tied, the following tiebreakers will determine which team will advance and/or in what order they will be ranked: § head to head game § runners left on bases (LOB) § number of hits (H) Semi-finals The first ranked team of each qualifying pool will play against the second ranked team of the other pool. S1) 1st qualifying pool A vs. 2nd qualifying pool B S2) 1st qualifying pool B vs. 2nd qualifying pool A Finals F7) 7th and 8th place: 4th qualifying pool A vs. 4th qualifying pool B F5) 5th and 6th place: 3rd qualifying pool A vs. 3rd qualifying pool B F3) 3rd and 4th place: loser S1 vs. loser S2 F1) 1st and 2nd place: winner S1 vs. winner S2 Duration of the meetings in the qualifying pools and in the semi-finals The game will be played on a maximum of five innings or 1 hour and 20 minutes plus the necessary time to complete the inning Only in the qualifying pool, if a game is tied after 5 innings, one (1) more inning will be allowed, then the match will be suspended even if still tied. Maximum four (4) runs for inning regardless of the playing situation. No new inning starts after 1 hour and 15 minutes. Official scorekeepers are responsible for the time limit control.
The final 7°-8° game will be played on a maximum of four innings or 60 minutes (1 hour) plus the necessary time to complete the inning The final 5°-6° game will be played on a maximum of five innings or 1 hour and 20 minutes plus the necessary time to complete the inning The final 3°-4° game and the final 1°-2° game will be played on a maximum of six innings or 1 hour and 30 minutes plus the necessary time to complete the inning No new inning starts if there’s less than 5 minutes to the end of the game time limit. Official scorekeepers are responsible for the time limit control.
Pitching limits
"Ragazzi" - Pitching limits The following rules will be applied in the tournament: - Pitchers aged between 9 and 12 years: 90 pitches/tournament 45 pitches/day (max) If the pitcher reaches the limit of pitches allowed while facing a batter, it may continue to pitch until the batter completes the batting turn.
"CADETTI" CATEGORY
“Cadetti” means boys and girls born between 01/01/1992 and 12/31/1995 Qualifying pools The 8 teams are divided in two qualifying pools (Italian mode – one leg) with 4 teams each. At the end of the qualifying pool the ranking is determined as follows: - the winning team of every game gains 2 points, the loosing 0 points - in case of a tied game, after 1 extra inning, 1 point each - if two or more teams are tied, the following tiebreakers will determine which team will advance and/or in what order they will be ranked: § head to head game § runners left on bases (LOB) § number of hits (H) Semi-finals The first ranked team of each qualifying pool will play against the second ranked team of the other pool. The following rules will be applied in the tournament: - Pitchers aged between 13 and 16 years: 120 pitches/tournament 60 pitches/day (max) If the pitcher reaches the limit of pitches allowed while facing a batter, it may continue to pitch until the batter completes the batting turn.
The winning Team of each category will be awarded with the “Filippini Trophy”. The other teams will be awarded according to their ranking. Individual awards for each category will be assigned to: - Best pitcher, based on ER (earned run), evaluated on a minimum of 5 inning pitch - Best batter, based on H/AB, evaluated on a minimum of 5 “at bat”
MODIFICATIONS
San Martino Junior Baseball reserves the right to made changes to this Regulations if necessary, in Tournament best interest.
LIABILITY
San Martino Junior baseball has no liability on possible accidents that could occur before, during, or after the tournament. This regulation has to be returned signed by the president, or his delegate, of the team for acceptance. NOTE For any situation not considered in this regulation, the Tournament Committee refers to the FIBS (Italian Federation Baseball and Softball) regulations.
